Frequently asked questions
A vCard QR code encodes your contact information — name, phone, email, company, and website — in the vCard 3.0 format. When scanned, the phone offers to save your details directly to the contacts app. No app download needed.
Select the Contact tab above, enter your name, company, phone, email, and website, then download the QR code. Place it on the back of your business card. When someone scans it, all your details are saved to their phone's contacts in one tap.
Yes — both iOS (iPhone) and Android recognise the vCard format natively. The built-in camera app detects the contact data and prompts the user to add the contact. No third-party app is required.
Our generator supports first name, last name, organisation/company, phone number, email address, and website URL. All fields except first and last name are optional.
No — your details are processed entirely in your browser and encoded into the QR image. Nothing is sent to any server. Once you close the tab, no personal data remains.
A vCard QR code saves your contact to the recipient's phone instantly with no typing. It prevents transcription errors, works even after the physical card is lost, and can be placed digitally on email footers, websites, and social profiles as well as printed materials.
It uses the vCard 3.0 standard, supported by all modern smartphones and contact apps including Apple Contacts, Google Contacts, Samsung Contacts, and Microsoft Outlook.
What Is a vCard QR Code?
A vCard QR code encodes your contact details using the vCard 3.0 standard — the same format used by email clients and phone contacts apps. When someone scans the code, they are prompted to add you to their contacts with your name, phone, email, company, and website all pre-filled. It is the digital equivalent of handing over a business card, but faster and error-free.
How to Add a Contact QR Code to Your Business Card
Download the SVG version for use in Illustrator, Canva, or InDesign, or PNG 1024px for standard print. Place the QR code on the back of your business card with a short instruction like "Scan to save my contact". Always test scanning before ordering a print run. The QR code should be at least 2 cm × 2 cm when printed.
vCard QR Code vs LinkedIn QR Code
A LinkedIn QR code links to your LinkedIn profile — useful for professional networking but requires the recipient to have a LinkedIn account. A vCard QR code saves your details directly to the phone's native contacts app, no account needed, and works without an internet connection at scan time. For maximum convenience, use both.
Other Uses for a Contact QR Code
Beyond business cards, vCard QR codes work on conference lanyards and badges, email footers, website contact pages, marketing brochures, and even car rear windows for tradespeople. Anywhere you want someone to save your contact details quickly.
